How the Program Works
The RENEWAY program provides suppliers across the aerospace and defense industry a runway to take climate action and reduce carbon emissions by accelerating the adoption of renewable electricity. The program provides critical resources and expert consultation for suppliers in any stage of their decarbonization journey to navigate the diverse array of options within the renewable energy market and create a procurement strategy. Participation in the program is completely free of charge.
Access to support and educational material is free for the industry supply chain through corporate sponsorship of the program. RENEWAY, managed by Schneider Electric, fosters collaboration and partnership among corporate sponsors and their suppliers, empowering collective impact towards a low carbon future. Aerospace and defense suppliers that join RENEWAY have the unique opportunity to combine electricity purchasing power to form buyers' cohorts and/or explore regional and onsite renewable opportunities. The cohort model creates access to renewable electricity for many suppliers that would not have enough electricity demand to meet the scale needed for affordable purchasing on their own.
How it works:
Step 1: Register
First, indicate your interest in the program by clicking the Register tab. Registering for this program does not obligate you to purchase renewable electricity or join a cohort, but it does help prepare your team with the knowledge to take action.
Step 2: Connect
After registration, your status as a supplier to the RENEWAY sponsors will be verified. Once verified, you will receive a verification email and be contacted by a member of the Schneider Electric RENEWAY team with an invitation to schedule an onboarding call. The onboarding call will allow the RENEWAY team to tailor your potential renewable electricity opportunities.
Step 3: Learn
Login to the dedicated RENEWAY platform to access renewable electricity education resources, see program announcements, and register for upcoming live education sessions. The live webinars will cover key internal considerations and market factors relevant to renewable electricity adoption and give suppliers access to expert consultation at no cost. The educational material is designed to help your organization learn more about your renewable electricity options and to answer questions such as: What are the fundamentals of renewable electricity procurement? How can aerospace and defense suppliers collaborate to secure competitive pricing and contract terms for renewable electricity? How can the aerospace and defense industry take action and demonstrate climate leadership?
Step 4: Act
Your participation in the program gives your company the unique opportunity to explore the diverse array of renewable energy procurement options. Experts at Schneider Electric will help design a procurement strategy that meets the scale required for your business. RENEWAY will provide access to join a cohort where multiple companies can come together and combine electricity purchasing power. These buyers' cohorts bring together a community of suppliers sharing best practices, creating more favorable pricing and contract terms and increasing environmental impact to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
RENEWAY is a collective initiative to engage aerospace and defense industry suppliers in climate action. The program is designed to provide suppliers with education about renewable energy purchasing and provides the opportunity to participate in the market for renewable electricity purchasing, either as a solo buyer or through an aggregated approach. Participation in the program is completely free of charge.
Lockheed Martin is the founding sponsor of the RENEWAY program.
A power purchase agreement (PPA) for renewable energy is generally a long-term contract (typically 10-20 years) between a renewable energy developer and a creditworthy buyer(s). PPAs enable renewable energy developers to secure financing for new wind or solar projects and generally allow buyers to purchase renewable energy in a cost-competitive manner.
One of the objectives of RENEWAY is to "aggregate" participating supplier electricity demand into appropriately sized and diversified groups (cohorts) that will go-to-market together to procure energy from new renewable energy projects. This renewable energy aggregation approach aims to create more buying opportunities for more companies while reducing costs by leveraging collective buying power.
RENEWAY is open to all direct suppliers of participating aerospace and defense companies. The intent of the program is to support global renewable electricity purchasing where supplier interest and market opportunity align, so please join and let us know where you have interest in pursuing renewable energy.
Schneider Electric Sustainability Business (SB) has been engaged by the participating aerospace and defense companies to design and implement the program. Schneider Electric is the world’s leading advisor on corporate renewable energy purchasing, having consulted on more than 16 gigawatts of new wind and solar PPAs since 2014. As an independent advisor, Schneider Electric focuses on helping corporate clients understand the costs, benefits, risks, and opportunities of all types of renewable energy contracts. Schneider Electric will coordinate the renewable energy project sourcing and provide supplier education and engagement.
Registering for the program enables your organization to learn more about renewable energy options in a low-pressure way, supported by Schneider Electric. By registering, you’ll join other suppliers learning about renewable energy and the right procurement options for your company, which may include environmental attribute certificates (EACs), onsite solar installations, and/or a power purchase agreement (PPA) as a solo buyer or alongside other suppliers via a buyers’ cohort. There is no obligation or cost to participate.
Registration is simple. Click the Register tab of this website. Shortly after registration and verification by your participating aerospace and defense company, you will receive an invitation to an onboarding process from a Schneider Electric representative and be provided access to RENEWAY platform. There is no obligation or cost to participate.
No. Suppliers can register at any time.
Yes, you need to be a supplier of one of the participating aerospace and defense companies. If you are not an aerospace and defense supplier but are interested in learning more about the program, please contact reneway@se.com.
Once you have registered and your supplier status has been verified, you will be contacted to schedule an onboarding call with the Schneider Electric team. Following the onboarding, you will receive your login credentials for the RENEWAY platform where you can access program resources and register for curated educational webinars to help you learn more about renewable electricity purchasing. These educational resources are designed to help you learn about your renewable electricity options and assess whether your organization would benefit from purchasing renewable electricity. Purchasing options may include environmental attribute certificates (EACs), on-site solar installations, and/or a power purchase agreement (PPA) as a solo buyer or alongside other suppliers via a buyers’ cohort. Throughout the program, you may be asked to share details about your business that will allow Schneider Electric to assess your fit for different purchasing opportunities. This information will be kept confidential; the participating aerospace and defense companies will not receive or review this information.
