How the Program Works
pep+ REnew aims to accelerate the adoption of renewable electricity and create a more resilient and carbon-efficient food system. As one of the first collaborations of its kind, and first in the food and beverage industry, pep+ REnew will help PepsiCo value chain partners access renewable electricity.
Specifically, pep+ REnew is designed with two goals: 1) Educate PepsiCo’s value chain partners about their renewable electricity choices, and 2) quicken the transition to renewable electricity through aggregate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other options. By creating greater access to large-scale renewable electricity, the initiative aspires to add more renewable electricity capacity to power grids, where able.
How it works:
Step 1: Register
First, indicate your interest in the program by clicking the Register tab on this website. Registering at this stage only indicates that your organization is interested in learning more. There is no obligation or cost to participate.
Step 2: Connect
Shortly after registration, you will be contacted by a member of the Schneider Electric pep+ REnew team. After your status as a value chain partner with PepsiCo has been verified, you will receive an invitation to a short onboarding call. During the call, a member of the Schneider Electric team will learn more about your organization’s electricity profile and objectives.
Step 3: Learn
You will then be provided access to the pep+ REnew Education Portal. This portal contains materials designed to help you and your organization learn more about your renewable electricity options and to answer questions such as: What are the fundamentals of renewable electricity procurement? How can value chain partners unify to secure competitive electricity prices while demonstrating climate leadership? In addition to online educational resources, the Schneider Electric team will deliver a series of curated educational webinars covering key internal considerations and market factors relevant to renewable electricity adoption.
Step 4: Act
Once you complete the renewable electricity curriculum, your company and the Schneider Electric team will determine whether continued participation – in an aggregated procurement program or other procurement options – is the right fit. If yes, you can explore the feasibility of a PPA individually or alongside other participating value chain partners via a buyers’ cohort, or another option.
pep+ REnew is a collaboration that aims to accelerate the adoption of renewable electricity and create a more resilient and carbon-efficient food system. Specifically, pep+ REnew is designed with two goals: 1) Educate PepsiCo’s value chain partners about their renewable electricity choices, and 2) quicken the transition to renewable electricity through aggregate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other options.
Climate change is endangering our natural resources. It’s up to global companies to do something about it. So, PepsiCo is charting a new course to drive positive action for the planet and people. It’s called pep+ (PepsiCo Positive). PepsiCo is committed to net-zero emissions across the value chain by 2040 and reducing Scope 3 emissions – the emissions caused by the value chain – 40% by 2030 (against a 2015 baseline). Through pep+ REnew, PepsiCo aims to educate value chain partners, make renewable electricity more accessible, and leverage its resources for the greater good. PepsiCo is inviting value chain partners to join and engage with the program. Schneider Electric will administer the program and be responsible for the educational content and for leading value chain partners through participation in an aggregate procurement program, if applicable.
Participating in pep+ REnew enables you to learn more about renewable electricity options in a low-pressure way, supported by Schneider Electric. You will join other value chain partners learning about renewable electricity and the right procurement options for their company, up to and including a PPA. Procuring renewable electricity is complex. It requires knowledge of market principles, terminology, unique contract structures, evaluation of and management of risks, and the involvement of internal stakeholders. This process may seem daunting, but pep+ REnew is designed to provide education and support from Schneider Electric to make the process easier.
A power purchase agreement (PPA) for renewable electricity is generally a long-term contract (typically 10-20 years) between a renewable electricity developer and a creditworthy buyer(s). PPAs enable renewable electricity developers to secure financing for new wind or solar projects and generally allow buyers to purchase renewable electricity in a cost-competitive manner.

No. You can register at any time, but we encourage early participation. Educational webinars will begin in April-May 2022.
Once you have registered and your value chain partner status has been verified, you will be contacted to schedule an onboarding call with the Schneider Electric team. You will also receive your login credentials for the pep+ REnew Education Portal where you can access program resources and register for a series of curated educational webinars to help you learn more. These educational resources are designed to help you learn about your renewable electricity options and assess whether your organization would benefit from participating in a PPA purchase individually or alongside other participating value chain partners via a buyers’ cohort. Throughout the program, you may be asked to share details about your business that will allow Schneider Electric to assess your fit for the program.
Registration requires basic information including name, email, and company. You will also be asked about your electricity consumption by geography.
